Thread: King of Tokyo:: Rules:: About hearts and healing...

While in Tokyo, even if not to heal, you can use a heart to get rid of a poison counter, correct? (and as a follow up, just to be sure: every time you get attacked by a monster holding the poison spit card, you get a counter, correct? It's not that you can only be poisoned once and that's it)

Second: can a monster outside of tokyo use Healing Ray on a monster on Tokyo and heal him, and then get his energy?

Can someone in tokyo heal through cards?

And, as another extra: cards that say "extra damage to your neighbours" means the players right and left of the player with the card, correct?

That's it for the moment, I think

According to the publisher, no, you cannot use hearts in Tokyo to remove poison or shrink ray counters. That is considered "healing."

I don't see any prohibition against using Healing Ray on a monster currently in the city.

You can heal in Tokyo using cards, because the rule is that you cannot use hearts to heal.

"Neighbors" refers to the player turn order, yes.

This guy's right on all accounts. I believe it is official that you can use Healing Ray even when you're in Tokyo.

Also, yes you can have more than one poison or shrink ray counter if you're attacked multiple times by the player(s) that has it.

Is there a "hand" in this game or all bought cards just played at purchase?

There is no hand, there are claws. :-D Discard cards trigger when they are bought, the Keep cards stay yours on the table.

Thanks!
It seem like there was a hand-- er, claw. I just wanted to confirm as card denial seems like an important strategy when I looked through the deck this morning.

If someone else has lots of energy and there are good cards available, you certainly might want to consider swiping them by paying 2 energy.

Can you Mimic Costumes? Nothing on the card suggests you can't since it does not specifically say keep cards.

If so, what implications does that have? Can mimic then be stolen in the same manner as costumes if it is mimicking a costume?

If not, then using mimic on a zombie costume would make you effectively unkillable, since mimic would not have the one weakness that the zombie costume has, the ability to have it stolen resulting in death.

:wow:

Mimic is worded such that it is "as if you played the mimicked card" and since there isn't anything saying otherwise, I'd say that applies to all aspects of the card. That means it is effectively a costume, and could be stolen. The player that steals it could then use it as-is, or pay energy on their turn to mimic something else.

At least that's what I'll argue when you try that on me. ;)

Just got this and haven't played yet.

1) dice rolling.
You roll the dice at the start of your turn. You then have a total of two rerolls after that? Rerolls are not tied to specific dice (like rerolling each specific Die up to two times?)

2) the first claw that doesn't get rerolled forces that monster into Tokyo and Zero damage occurs because your all outside?

3) in a 5/6 player game it seems possible that a monster in Tokyo can be eliminated in spin around the table (if they don't bail out of the city)?

1) The dice rolling is like Yhatzee. You roll and keep as many as you want then roll a second time again choosing some or all to keep. Then you get one final reroll.

2) After all your 3 rolls are done if you have at least 1 claw showing, you enter Tokyo without doing damage because there was no monster there.

3)It is true that the more opponents you have the easier it will be to get defeated if you do not leave. So you have to see how much life you have balanced out with all your abilities.

Also do not forget that in 5 or 6 players Tokyo Bay is used so that helps lessen your attackers.

I hope my answers helped.

It's a long story but cutting to the chase I seem to have lost my energy cubes (little green ones). I'm not sure who to contact about buying replacements from as this game seems to have multiple publishers around the world.

If anyone knows and can signpost me I would appreciate some help to restore my copy of the game.

If you don't want to go down the MeepleSource (or UK equivalent) route, the publisher, in the UK, is iEllo.

Do a google search for "blank translucent green dice".
Those are what I would replace the energon cubes with.

Thread: King of Tokyo:: Rules:: How many shrink counter can be placed on a single monster?

I just played a game in which someone got up to 5 shrink counters on them. It was a 3 player game and it seemed rather unfair, although I know it's not relatively easy for this to happen, I think that it can hinder the experience for a player.

Is there a limit or can it go up to and over 6?
