Thread: King of Tokyo:: Rules:: question on card timing

The scenario: The active player (who is outside Tokyo) rolls his dice and applies his damage. The poor, innocent victim (me...inside Tokyo) has a card that allows them to immediately roll a die for each point of damage...with each heart rolled in this manner negating one damage. However, active player has a card that allows him to purchase any card at face value from any other player.

Can the active player exercise the ability of his card to purchase my damage mitigating card BEFORE I get the ability to roll for hearts and negate damage?

I'd say yes, you'd process the actions "Last In, First Out".

Or, does the power to buy other people's cards still only apply during the buy cards phase which is after you roll your dice and deal damage? Seems that's the way I would play it.

And that's it right there.

Dice kit? Just throw them in a ziplock bag and send them off. Unless they're going to try and put something else with the kit so they can charge more money. Honestly, in my opinion they screwed up on the first run of the dice and they should take care of the people that made the first run so successful without trying to squeeze them for more money.

guess I missed it? So because I missed this just a few days ago, will it be several weeks/months again? Kind of frustrating.

Squeeze me for money, I don't care. Just give me some proper dice.

King of Tokyo fans unite!

Kaiju Combat is the potential "Godzilla 4" Kickstarter project, by Simon Strange and the team who brought us Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Godzilla: Save the Earth, and Godzilla: Unleashed! Not to mention Matt Frank!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14214732/kaiju-combat

I know this is a video game and not a board game, but I figured people here would be interested.

I'm pretty excited for this game, please spread the word and donate!

Seriously? How is this KoT "News"? Isn't this like a rules violation or something?

I agree that it certainly doesn't belong here. If you press the red X at the top left next to the thread title, one of the options you can select is "Wrong Forum". That's what I did; hopefully the admins will take notice and do something about it.

They'll definitely be missing a small money maker if they don't have sets available for sale. I'd hate to think they just don't care.

I'd seen it on amazon but wasn't sure if it was the new version with engraved dice as they've had it on there for quite a while. You'll have to let me know which version it is :)

So if you suffer 3 wounds do you take 2 damage with Armor Plating? Or does Armor Plating only cancel out instances where you would take a single point of damage...

It doesn't reduce damage, it just cancels if there is only one point of damage.

Thread: King of Tokyo:: General:: Do you play with Monster Board face up or down?

We're having a great time with King of Tokyo.
When we first started playing, we just assumed to play with our Monster boards face up. We could see where everyone was on VP and Hearts during the game.

However, last night we played for the first time at our neighborhood game night and 2 players immediately placed their board upside down so other players couldn't see how they were doing during the game. They just naturally tended to hide that info as part of their strategy.

Since the game rules don't explicitly state one way or the other, now I'm very curious how others play.

So do you play with your Monster board face up or down?

I think at this point, I would have left. To me, this seems very much against the spirit of the game.
