In the fall of 2014 I was looking to jumpstart my game collection. I was a six-year Magic: The Gathering veteran and the weariness of constantly trying to keep up with new product every 3-4 months was starting to catch up with me, although it would be another two years before I would manage to refrain from purchasing a booster box of the latest and greatest. Once you're in, it's hard to get out.

Anyway, I'd started listening to The Dice Tower audio podcast earlier that year, and Eric Summerer's descriptions of playing the game with his son at Origins that year stuck out to me. It sounded like a great time, and knowing that it was designed by the creator of Magic gave it a huge boost in my mind.

Finally, I discovered that Target was carrying it! I happened to be browsing their game shelves during one of their "buy two, get one free" game sales, and wound up finally picking it up. There have been many hours of fun since.
