Controlling 2 monsters is how I've played 2 players. We both make decisions for our monsters but if the one placed in front of us loses, it's considered a loss even if our "teammate" wins. Makes for more constrained rolling rather than all out attack. For example, my dummy monster will all out attack any opponent monster in Tokyo, but when I'm in Tokyo with my main, it'll heal up or collect energy or points.
