To be clear here and I could be wrong since I didn't investigate the rules to be sure but with King of Tokyo you either win or you lose there's no first or last place. In all the games you mention there's no player elimination and maybe that's the aspect you hate more. So say you didn't die there and someone else won then guess what you would have been last still.

Perhaps my gaming groups differ from yours in this respect. We care about places other than first, and care very much about close finishes (where first and second place differ by a small number of points). Those of us that keep game journals keep track of not only placements, but also end game scores.

As the first person eliminated, and/or the person with the fewest points at the end of the game, I came in last.
