No shit. I kept every heart that I could roll in my last two rounds.

Being forced into Tokyo is part of the luck aspect that I did not enjoy.

If neither of the players between us attacked him, which they likely would have done.

Or I had plenty of energy and 15 points, with a 2 point card showing to be bought, that no one else could afford, and a 2 point card on top of the deck, that only I knew about, and a card to give myself an extra point (can't remember which one).

Three rounds prior I had 9 health, and I took the least-risky course of action at every juncture. None of my actions were responsible for my loss. Hence my complaint about the luck-ness of the game, especially when it boiled down to the roll of a single die at least once and probably twice.

That is correct. Again, damn the dice.

a single die roll single random event.

A few more things.

First, you aren't forced to take Tokyo from rolling a claw. The player in Tokyo has to YIELD after being attacked. That's a player decision, not luck.

Next, You say you lost 8 health in 3 rounds, you say that if any other player attacked the guy in Tokyo and you would have been safe, if you would have rolled hearts, if you didn't roll claws, but you keep saying ONE DICE ROLL or ONE SINGLE EVENT did you in. Even if we agree that you suffered from "bad luck" it would clearly not be "one bad roll". It would be 3 rounds of bad rolls.

I also looked through the deck to find cards that give points without requiring certain die rolls.First the "extra point"

Cards that grant a free point all have a condition.
(3) Dedicated News Team - gives a point when you buy a card.
(3) Energy Hoarder- gives a point at the end of your turn if you have 6 energy. - Let's assume it wasn't this one or you'd need way too much energy.
(5) Herbivore - gives a point if you don't attack. Still requires a die roll. So can't be this one.
(5) Alpha Monster - gives a point if you attack. Also needs a die roll.
(3) Rooting for the underdog. Gives a point if you have the fewest points. Which doesn't seem to be the case.
(3) Sleepwalker - Spend 3 energy for a point

Then for the outright point cards you would purchase.

Army, Tanks, Jet Fighters and National Guard all deal damage so they would kill you.
Which leaves (3) Corner Store +1VP, (4) Commuter Train +2VP, (5) Apartment Building +3VP and (5) Drop from High Altitude + 2VP + Tokyo. And five 6 point cards that give 2,2,2,4,4, points.

You clearly don't have any cards that can alter your dice, or you would have used them to change that claw to a heart on your last turn. Which means you have a minimum of 8 energy cubes in front of you , plus spent 5 on Made in a Lab ( to peek at the top of the deck) and Dedicated News Team. (OR 8 to afford Sleepwallker instead of DNT or 10 energy in front of you and had spent 8 on all 3 of those cards)

Which poses more questions. From your turn, you "knew" you'd be able to buy the points card showing AND the top card you already knew... which means the other 3 players would not buy either card OR wipe the table. How can you "know" that? (Hint: you can't. Its player choice)

Even if they had 0 energy, they can roll energy on their turn and choose to buy or wipe. Even if you have 15 points they'd be ridiculous to let you buy a card with points because then almost any points roll will win you the game.

So you were only assured of victory on your next turn if you were playing with 3 idiots or 3 people who rolled 1,1,2,2,3,3 on their turn (and didn't have any cards to make that useful.)

AND FINALLY....why is it BAD LUCK that some rolls went against you, but not GOOD LUCK that you acquired 15 points and a bunch of energy cubes in the first place?

TLDR: Its STILL your fault, not the dice. But now I've shifted from thinking you played too risky to thinking you clearly didn't play risky enough. Its quite possible that your "least risky" play for 3 turns - storing up at least 8 energy and not buying more aggressive cards - is what did you in.

Yes. I strategically analyze King of Tokyo for fun. I'm a fun guy.
