KoT is not a speed game or a dexterity game where whoever can slam down the card fastest gets it to happen first. If there is a card that can be bought for one player to win the game, and another player has a card that can stop that from happening, the first character has to give the second the time to play cards. Obviously, we don't play like that because we don't know what evolution cards our opponents are holding and the game would play slowly if you had to constantly ask players if they wanted to play a card before your next action. Therefore, I'd suggest that in the OP's game if Gigazaur stated he wanted to play his card before the other player bought his card, you'd rewind the purchase of that card and have Gigazaur's card take play first. Then, the not-winning player would have a choice about whether to buy the five point card.

That's how I would play it anyway.
