Right, after the three rolls are done but before you resolve them you can use keep cards to for example get an extra reroll or force a die to be rerolled or change a die to a particular type or to heal yourself, etc. any card works. However once everybody has finished using their cards and you start actually taking the damage from attack dice and collecting energy and healing and such then you have to resolve it all before you can use another card.

So yes if the dice are done you can heal with a card before the damage and everything else is applied, and similarly someone else can use a card to make the attack do extra damage.
