Yup. I thought the same thing, but I was thinking of maybe reducing it to 7 and it gives you 8 back, or keeping at 8 but having it give you 10 back.
Edit: I do agree with Monster Batteries though, I haven't been able to find a strategy that makes that card worthwhile.
