Thanks for your great review, although I disagree on a few points:
1) The rulebook for this game is terrible. It's difficult to find answers to questions you may have and a lot of information is either unclear or simply missing.
2) I think they made the right call in making all the monsters the same in the base game, then giving them unique identities in the Power Up expansion. This keeps the complexity down for new players and puts everyone on an even footing. They managed to keep the game very simple and straightforward, and kept extra bits out, making the game very affordable. Players who want more complexity and unique personalities for the monsters can get the expansion.
3) I have always played with Cyberbunny, and I always kick everyone's ass, including Gigasaur. Cyberbunny is obviously superior.

Wow, a lot of responses on this review - though that was to be expected as King of Tokyo touches a lot of gamers out there!
(1) Not sure why I didn't mind the rulebook, perhaps I missed something without realising or filled in the gaps. I guess rulebooks are always going to be subjective though - like for e.g. I find the Arkham Horror rulebook a bit messy in comparison.
(2) Granted that's a fair reason for the designers doing that - but I wouldn't say that the expansion adds that much complexity - you're talking one new mechanic - roll for hearts and take a new card. Even new gamers pick that up pretty quickly.
(3) CYBERBUNNY?!!?!?! :robot:
