The game CAN get old depending on the style of your group. Personally, I find that it really is a great filler when you need a break from the constant games.

I used to be an avid fan of MTG as well, but continuously playing Type 2 can be a bit costly. Board games can be costly as well, which is why I highly recommend you do research before committing to such a game.

My friends and I have played King of Tokyo every game night so far in addition to many other board games. It might not hit the table every week, but it's a fun, light game that can be an investment towards playing with kids that you might have in the future as well.

With our group of 20-28 year olds, we are still having fun making monster noises at each other, taunting each other for being wimps while retreating from Tokyo, and beating each other up as monsters.

It all comes down to the chemistry of your group to be honest whether or not this game becomes old.
