I can answer the second one at least. If you get to 20, you must survive to the end of your turn. This is at least in the latest copy of the rules if not the earlier ones.
Thanks for that. I thought I had saw something similar in the rulebook, but I couldn't find it when I went looking.

I say the damage would keep going. It is not an infinite loop as the die roll prevents that from happening. I don't remember anything in the rules that says a cards ability can only be used once. In fact, if you have the energy to pay the cost of a cards effect you can do it more than once. So I don't see why these would be different.
I was going to mention that it's generally ruled that you can pay for a card's effect multiple times. So I agree that it is the way the cards are likely played. I was just worried that there could potentially be a circumstance that could end in an infinite loop. In this case, it was a large loop just because the player with the armor was rolling really well with the armor to-hit. And it was all game long that he rolled well. I'd say he at least had a 50% success rate from the beginning of the game. It was an oddity.

The damage roll for the lighting armor doesn't say "may" so you would have to roll for the damage.
That was the question. The tiny "Power Up" rule book never mentions whether or not the evolution abilities are optional. It only mentions that you can save the evolutions to spring at a time of your choosing. But I was assuming once they came in, they were no longer optional. That's certainly the way I've always played the actual cards.

I think you are correct with the RAW and RAI of the card. Determining the self damage is hard because it could thematically could be argued both ways. Electric armor is dangerous to have or, being a robot, he would be built with the appropriate fail safes for the armor. In the end I think we would not make him damage himself.
I wasn't even really concerned about the particular character. When I speak of RAI, I mostly mean that I'm pretty sure the way the card is read, it wasn't intended that you would be repeatedly damaging yourself. I didn't want to bring up the subject of particular characters and their differences with certain cards, because it's obvious that the game wasn't designed to have a major difference between the characters.
