The DreadBall league sputtered off to a slow start and Mike and I still haven't played our game. We lost two of the eight players to real life. Let's hope February moves things along.

Last month, I played 27 games a total of 46 times and four expansions a total of six times. Six of the games and one of the expansions were new to me. I played 12 of the games and two of the expansions in December.

and the first month of 2013 saw the following played.

10 Days in Europe
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 6/10
My Rating: 8

Wow, it has been a long, long time since I played any of the games in this series. So when Mike asked if there was something I wanted to play when I was over at his house, I suggested this because I knew Hilary would like to play it, too.

I ended up with a couple of ocean cards, two orange planes, five orange countries, and Finland. I don't think it would have been possible for me to complete the trip with all orange cards, and I suspect I came as close as I could.

Ascension: Imortal Heroes
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 7

A nice addition to the series.

Atlantis Rising
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 4

A cooperative game with a little too much randomness and not enough player interaction.

Citadels
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 11/10
My Rating: 8

We played with six players and up to seven buildings instead of eight.

DC Comics Deck-Building Game
Times Played:4
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 7

This is a lot better than I expected it to be. It is a essentially a single-resource version of Ascension with some slightly different rules.

D-Day Dice
Times Played:3
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 9

Expansions Played:Operation Neptune x2 and Normandy x1.

We beat the Brécourt Manor map, twice. The first time we played wrong. Mike missed the part where we were supposed to hit the four guns on the way to the bunker, so we played again and beat it again. We later played the Gold Beach II scenario and it was tight. We attacked the bunker and a bad die roll for the machine guns would have done us in, but we survived.

Diamant
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 9

Everyone loves it, most want a copy, but they want the original import with the crates like I have.

Dreadball
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 9

We started out league and everyone should have played two games. It ended up being one game for half the league, two players haven't played, and two players dropped out.

I did play a one-off game which was a total pasting of Nico in a human on human match. The next person to play Nico had better be wary because he used all his bad luck rolls in our game.

Elder Sign
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

Cthulhu is not as tough as you might think. That, or a dilettante, a drifter, and a creepy-looking doctor are just freaking awesome together!

Shub-Niggurath looked to be a tougher nut to crack, but he still cracked when facing the girls of Arkham.

Gauntlet of Fools
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 7

The Kickstarter cards are now available from the BGG store. Should I get them? Do they add enough to make it worth the $5?

Hordes
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

Mike's Trolls against my Gators. It was Mike's first time playing the Trollbloods and he was learning the abilities. I managed to keep both of my heavy beasts alive while finishing off his beasts and most of his Fennblades and we reached a point where calling it made sense.

Keltis: Das Würfelspiel
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 7

Dice, dice, ummm. What is the last word?

King of Tokyo
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

Expansions Played:Power Up! for all the plays.

Big monsters fighting over a big city.

Knights of Ten
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 8/12
My Rating: 8

Mike and I played the game for the first time in a long time. We still haven't played with the expansion cards.

Merchants & Marauders
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 6

Mike was curious about this game, so I asked Alex if he would teach it when the three of us were looking for something to play. I went all Merchant again, and this time the cards were with me and I won.

Mice and Mystics
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

We once again tried to rescue Lilly, and this time we managed to pull out a victory.

We also won the third scenario when we played it later in the month.

Mystery Rummy 4: Al Capone and the Chicago Underworld
Times Played:6
Last Month Played: 11/12
My Rating: 8

Maybe 2013 will be a good year? In our first game. I outscored Mike in three of the four hands, and he only beat me by one point in that one. I won the game. The second and fifth times we played, I beat him by 100 points. Who knew it was possible? :)

Pick-a-Pig!
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 3

A decent-enough speed recognition game, but because it is a speed/recognition game I rate it really low. Gryphon is going to be releasing both the Pig and Dog versions.

Power Grid
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/11
My Rating: 9

Expansions Played: The Québec map.

Wow, I didn't play this at all in 2012.

Powerboats
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 4/11
My Rating: 7

Ben and Alex hadn't played before, so it figures that they finished first and second. :)

Qwirkle
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 1/11
My Rating: 8

I have the same request I had when the game first came out. I want a bakelite version!

Ra: The Dice Game
Times Played:4
Last Month Played: 6/12
My Rating: 7

Most of my plays of this game have been with two players against Mike. These was no different.

Rat Hot
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 4/12
My Rating: 7

A sometimes-forgotten filler that is terrific for two players.

Rolling Freight
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 6

We played with five players which is really too many. With that many people playing the game for the first time, this is a phone killer. In other words, I spent too much time on my phone surfing the web and playing games and it ran out of juice.

Warmachine
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

I played a teaching game with Nico where he ran the Cryx starter box with Asphyxious replacing Deneghra and I played the Khador starter. The Slayer failed it's charge by less than a half inch and all the Cryx jacks ended up destroyed with one point of damage done to one of the Khador jacks.

Asphyxious ran up and destroyed the Juggernaught and looked to be able to jump in and out of range to destroy the Destroyer as well, so I decided to close with Sorscha and just missed hitting him, leaving him open to eliminate her.

Wizard's Brew
Times Played:1
Last Month Played: New to me
My Rating: 6

This is a game I really wanted to play for years. I was excited when Face 2 Face announced they were ding an English version and disappointed when it disappeared into the abyss of un-published games. After playing it, I would say it was on the lower end of what I expected. A good enough game but one I may not buy. We played with three and I was told it would be better with more. Looking forward to testing that statement out.

Würfel Bohnanza
Times Played:2
Last Month Played: 12/12
My Rating: 8

Dice, dice, baby!
