And for the record (as it's worth reiterating as it was the original point of the thread), Storm Knight is correct. I also checked the rules last night and it says that you can't use any "Heart" tokens you've rolled while in Tokyo/Tokyo Bay. It doesn't specify what you use them for, but simply that you can't use them at all. So I think it's more than safe to conclude it really does mean you can't remove poison/shrink tokens while in Tokyo.

And since heal cards only say "heal" (no hearts involved), it all points to needing to leave Tokyo to get rid of tokens.

Hate to reanimate a dead rule 'decision' but I beg to differ. Only trying to iron out the rule further, not trying to be disagreeable for nothing. :-) I'd love to see quotes to the opposite of what I am going to post, it certainly may be there but I don't see it...

In any case, under "Effects of Tokyo" it states, "the Monster in Tokyo cannot use the [Heart] result on the dice to heal (but can heal using cards)."

It doesn't say you can't use the heart tokens, just can't use them to _heal_.

Further, in the "Unofficial FAQ and Clarifications based on the French Edition of King of Tokyo" (I realize this is unofficial, but since I believe the game was first in French, I would suppose those rules take precedence.) It states, "the Monster in Tokyo cannot use the [heart] result on the dice to heal itself (but can heal using cards)."

Again, no mention of not being able to use the heart token, except for healing yourself. Hence, by default you may use hearts for whatever other usage they may have, except you may not use them for _healing_ yourself in Tokyo. I imagine then the card that allows you to heal other monsters and charge them [energy] would also be usable in Tokyo when you roll a heart. You just cannot heal yourself with your rolled [hearts].

I have the second printing of the game I believe (with the engraved dice) perhaps the rule sheet has changed, or perhaps there is another quote in the rulebook that then disagrees with what I posted. But as far as I can see the correct rule should be that hearts can be used for whatever else is permissible while in Tokyo except to heal yourself.

Any quotes that disagree with this? If the maker made a rule call on another post that disagreed, we'd be in a bit of a bind, but it looks like both English and French rules support what I wrote.

And, I am not going to engage in semantics about the "correct way to play" -- just trying to follow the rules as written. ;-)
