I think it would be better to say, "if you don't like unbalanced cards and no ways to mitigate luck (other than getting more lucky) you may hate this game."

I think that is a horrid description of KoT and not at all how many, many people who play it and enjoy it feel about the game. But then you've played it twice so who am I to question your view?

:) Not a description of the game, just a counterpoint to those that dismiss others dislike of the game "because they don't like randomness". There's no way to alter a die roll in KoT and the cards are most definitely unbalanced (to each other) on purpose. Randomness isnt the reason, its the level of randomness. So, while my description may be horrid, it does not stem from me disliking the base game system, but it's implementation. If I had kids between the ages of 6 & 10, I'd be all over this one, but I don't.

To bad you don't have gamers around you who can play with a kid-like appreciation of fun. That's really all you need to enjoy this well-designed and implemented game. You have my sympathy.
