Definitely explicitly stated in the rules:
Mimic
If the card being copied leaves play
for any reason (such as the Monster
that owns it being eliminated), take
the mimic counter back. You can
place it on a new power at the start
of your turn like normal by paying 1⚡.
If the copied card has counters on it
then use your own counters as if you
just played that card

This also implies that upon being eliminated, all of a monsters cards leave play as well.

Rules can be an amazing source of clarification...as well as an annoying source of confusion. +1 for the rules on this one.

As I feel this is, largely, a filler game with a relatively small amount of strategy I felt inclined to search for these threads. I can't find anything from the OP though.

Congratulations dude, winning two years in a row is damn impressive.

The Monster Batteries card seems like a total loser.

Yup. It's a total loser. Not sure why there's any discussion on this... By the time you start making your money back, someone's going to be well on the way to victory from using their dice rolls/energy for something that actually helps them right away. If you were playing a game where *everybody* is saving up energy, this card would be helpful, but you could also simply beat those players by going for victory points, and that would be faster.

I made my own deck of cards where Monster Batteries' cost is 1 instead of 2, and it still isn't great.

Hello everybody!

I bought KOT after watching Table Top's Youtube video and played it last night with my GF.
We liked the game very much but we don't know what 'counters' are for and when you deal them. We read the rules and noticed that they aren't explained there. How come? Did me miss something?

I believe Cyber Bunny's got a very weak deck. This is because it focuses on buying cards, and that's a suboptimal strategy for KoT. I made my own deck of cards with many of them being cheaper, but unfortunately this deck makes Cyber Bunny's evolutions totally broken.

The tokens are for some of the cards you buy. The graphics on the token matches the card they go with.

We mainly do not bother with the tokens. We use the energy cubes as counters.

That's super-weird. I wonder if the article I'm thinking of got deleted somehow. I remember the poster saying they had won some kind of big tournament. Their approach essentially boiled down to: "you need to know when others are likely to want to go to Tokyo. If they are staying out to heal, that's when you want to be in. If others are clamouring to be in Tokyo, that's when you want to stay out.

Thanks, Albert.
When are they supposedly distributed? Or they are not?

And why they aren't explained in the rules? :what:

When you buy a card, read the text. It is mostly obvious when the card talks about a limited number of times it can be used, and I think they tell you to add the counters on the card.

Ok, I'll check for an example.

Smoke Cloud: This card starts with 3 charges. Spend a charge for an extra reroll. Discard this card when all charges are spent.

Poison Spit tells you when to give poison tokens and what they do.

Mimic tells you how to use mimic counter.

Shrink Ray tells you how to give shrink counters and what they do.

So, the cards themselves tell you the rules for the counter.

Also, please have a look through the forum before starting your own thread. This question has been asked before and the forum tends to get cluttered with tons of repeat questions, especially for a popular game like KoT.

The Monster in Tokyo cannot use the  result on the dice to heal (but can heal using cards)

Please use the "quote" button instead of the "reply" button, because I'm having a hard time figuring out just who you are replying to.
And if I'm correct in who you are replying to, then what point are you trying to make?

Help! Another Parasitic questions...

1) Can the card be used immediately or wait until next turn?
2) My daughter had tons of cubes when she purchased parasitic tentacles. When she ROBBED me of my favorite card, could she then immediately ROB (okay... PURCHASE) a second card from me, or should she have been limited to one use (one purchase) per turn?

Thanks!

Most cards take effect immediately (and the ones that don't are fairly obvious).
There are really no limits on the card, other than you must buy things when you would normally buy things (during your turn, after your dice are resolved).

If she has the cubes, she can clean you out.
