Normally I choose games that haven't been played in years as an attempt to play them again and to introduce them to the newer players we're seeing on Saturdays. This time I am breaking the criteria I set because of a special request. Patty really wants to learn how to play King of Tokyo, and when she's asked in the past I haven't had a copy of the game around to teach it. So this week will be the week we teach it to her.The Power Up! expansion came out last week and I also hope to play using it this weekend, though not in the game which Patty learns to play.
Last week
None of the games I brought along to try again were played.
First I played a game of Hordes/Warmachine, then we jumped into a long game of Merchants & Marauders, which Alex has been wanting to play almost since the first time he showed up.
It wasn't a bad game, just as long as advertised. It also felt like each found took longer than it needed to for us to accomplish not very much. I suspect a familiarity with the rules would mitigate this to some degree, but it would still end up being a long game.
I would be willing to play it again, but the long playing time is a reason I won't be clamoring for it.
