I am saying a pack with the two new monsters their powers, not the old ones or cards. This would end up being about the same as the current monster packs. Instead of having a simple upgrade pack for people who own the game though, they made it so you have to rebuy the full game AND expansion if you want the new monsters and powers even though nearly all of those products are redundant content.
I have no idea why I'm wandering into this madness, but here it goes.
This is not a game where you *need* new stuff. The new monsters in the 2nd edition? Exactly the same as the only monsters in the 1st edition. You lose *nothing* by not having Cyberkitty and/or Space Penguin (? That's what replaced Kraken, yeah?). They don't add any new mechanics. You aren't suffering from playability without them. Even so much as games are concerned, these extra characters are completely unnecessary.
There is no need to buy a new edition of the game or expansion. The 1st edition works fine. Sure, if you *want* the new stuff and the updated rules? Go out and buy the new edition. But even as *games* go, this added content is completely cosmetic and optional.
In fact, you bought so much redundant content that you were able to give your family an ENTIRE 4 player copy. But please tell me more about how Iello is looking out for the customer.
Why do you have to buy anything if you don't want to buy it? Why are you waging this endless war on the grounds that you felt compelled to buy an upgraded version of a game that you don't even needs the upgrades to?
So to aquire this content ALL 1st edition owners who would like it can buy Power Up again despite owning nearly all of the content and just mix powers with whatever monsters they want or if they would like rebuy the base game as well to have the correct monsters.
A simple upgrade pack would make this process significantly simpler and cheaper for 1st edition owners, but they have chosen not to go this route. This also seems to be a good strategy for them because there seem to be plenty of people going out and spending the $60ish to rebuy everything and then praise Iello for allowing them to do so.
I, on the otherhand, am calling them out on this nonsense because I am not going to rebuy all the content, and I think it is problematic overall to not just ignore but praise these kinds of practices.
I know many disagree, but as someone who has supported the game for so long, I don't find the options of do without the content or pay $60 for content you own 90% of already to be particularly customer friendly.
