Nah, the Skyscrapers are just there for bling... they are literally Monopoly City playing pieces, so they're designed to be sitting on a gaming board... they only get knocked over if you decide to move your hand through them! As for 'getting in the way'... since they're playing pieces, you just put them wherever you want... you're really only moving monsters in and out of Tokyo, so in this particular 3-player game setup, I placed all the tall skyscrapers on the side of the board nobody was sitting at... i could easily move them wherever I want, but no... they only get in the way if you intentionally place them in the way. In any case, they're no-taller than the monster tokens, so they block play as much as the monsters do.Not one skyscraper toppled over during our play session... and if one did, it would be a case of "alright, which Kaiju toppled that skyscraper?"
I looked at a lot of ways to "3D" up the map... and these really fit the bill... skyscrapers of pretty much just the size I wanted (not too big, not too small) and they were easily and cheaply available on E-Bay.
