This is a variant post. The OP wants to discuss a way to make a game more balanced. A game that has an obvious choice (in this case, always leave Tokyo) is less balanced, so some people will want to change it, or even just to discuss changing it.
Sure. If you are going to make a variant, however, there needs to be a reason for the variation; otherwise, it makes no sense. I mean, people can do whatever they want. But in terms of, like, game design, it is helpful for things that are variations have a reason to exist. In this instance, the OP is making a variant to solve a problem that doesn't seem like it is really a problem. Perhaps if it is discussed and analyzed, someone will successfully articulate why it actually *is* a problem, in which case, the variant will make sense.
If you like the game as is, and don't enjoy variants, why are you here arguing? What are you hoping to gain?
This is the internet. Where people go to argue about the scientific inaccuracies of "Earth II".
A variant is being proposed to address a problem that doesn't really seem like a problem. So it seems like it is worth trying to get someone to defend their idea, perhaps to make it seem like a stronger idea. As that is how this sort of thing often works. Or, conversely, the idea will fall apart in the face of analysis, at which point, people are saved the effort of messing with it. As that is also how this sort of thing often works.
I mean, like, people are gonna do what people are gonna do, and that's fine. And doesn't bother me at all. But if someone doesn't want analysis of ideas they are posting, why post them in a public discussion forum?
