You know... I really hate NASCAR... to me... its just a bunch of cars driving around in a circle to the left...Yet there are millions of Americans who think this is a great sport and will spend hours on TV or in person... watching cars drive around a circle to the left...
It boggles my mind how anyone can get entertainment from that... yet... millions do.
I think King of Tokyo is your NASCAR... you don't get it... obviously... does that make you a bad person? No, of course not... you just don't like KoT, and that's okay. To each their own.
I'm going to come clean... I haven't played KoT, but I got young kids that I'm getting into gaming, and I think they'd get a kick out of this... (I ordered it, its coming this weekend) as much as I'd prefer a game of Risk (or truth be told, Axis and Allies), sometimes I have problems getting the kids to commit to anything more than 30 minutes to an hour of their attention, and something like this would be perfect for my family... no, it's not my favorite type of game, but it certainly has a purpose.
I play all types of games, from light fluff to heavy games with a lot of strategy... but every game... from Candy Land and Yahtzee to Risk to Axis and Allies, to Advanced Third Reich... they all have a place and an intended audience. That doesn't make one superior to the other, they just have a different purpose.
King of Tokyo is a very popular game... NASCAR is a very popular sport... neither is for everyone, but both have their place. Even if one is just a dice game of Yahtzee with monsters and another is just some cars driving in a circle to the left, sometimes that's just what people want... and that's okay by me.
