Our game week started with a great afternoon filled with games Orléans, Ticket to Ride: Europe, Blueprints and finally a few games of Forbidden Island we tried a few different set ups and lost a lot it finally came down to two tiles and all we needed was an airlift to win, which needless to say we didn't get!!Taken before things got tough.
We have had Peloponnes Card Game for about 10 months and have yet to play it so today was the day. We haven't played many games that have an auction mechanism and found that we throughly enjoyed this aspect although we largely stayed away from each other as we were learning I think next time we play that will not be the case and things will be much more interactive. As it was it was enjoyed and will definitely be out again in the not to distant future.
Today I received Mint Works in the post that was kickstarted before my buying ban was deployed. I was eager to give it a try and my only option today was solo as we had so much on but playing against Justin (one of the AI's) was a good way to learn the game I lost my first attempt but scraped a win at 7-6 on my second go can't wait to try this little gem out with more than just me.
Off to an early morning start with Iris and she agreed to play King of Tokyo with me she played with Cyberbunny and Mekadragon to my The King and Alienoid (my favourite!). She eventually beat me on points with Cyberbunny coming out on top.
It's great to have a little player in the making as we have one child in hospital for 3 weeks (unfortunately this is a regular thing for us), time together to play becomes harder to find.
Another day another child wanting a game, and that is definitely not a complaint! We only had a little time in the morning so decided on a quick game of Hanabi we ran into our usual problem to start, where we keep picking up the card, accidentally looking at it and then having to shuffle it back in, but after a couple of rounds we were working well and managed a score of 21 putting on a great display. I have heard that Beyond Baker Street is a Hanabi killer so when I'm able to buy games again is this worth a look?
My niece came for a visit this afternoon and so we played one of her favourites Last Will and I finally finally managed a win at a score of -28 this is the first time I have won against her and the first time I've made it below -2.
We had the arduous task of car hunting today and neither of us know anything about cars!! But we managed and even got home in time for a quick game of Flip City. This time we added the office cards and are really enjoying this little game love the decision of pushing one more card knowing the residentials are lurking.
So the end of another week and playing through the games we have is definitely a good resolution.
