The counters are used when a specific Power Up card is put into play.For example, Alienoid has two cards that require counters. One card will require 3 space ship tokens and the other requires 3 alien symbol tokens. Basically, you get to use that ability listed on the card 3 times. Each time removing a token. Once all tokens are used, the card is discarded.
