Session: King of Tokyo:: Funny Ending to 4P Game

We were playing a 4p game with my wife and I, and my 2 children, 9 and 8.

The boy, 9, tends to play for damage, my daughter, 8, tends to play for VP on the dice and cards like omnivore, Giant Brain, freeze time, and the like. Interestingly, she wins a lot more than us.

Anyway, this 4P was a hard fought game with all sorts of swings in the action.

The game started the usual way, with somebody grabbing energy and Tokyo on first turn. From there it was a round about style of game with Tokyo coming and going and people focusing on damaging whoever was in Tokyo or regaining life after losing Tokyo.

My daughter, playing as Kraken, got Herbivore, which played directly into her typical strategy of rolling for 3 of a kind and victory.

My wife, playing as Cyber Bunny, managed enough energy to pull an Evacuation Orders, which was huge in delaying my daughter. She also had a super jump going for her.

My son, playing as Meka Dragon played the pound your face style of game surviving by the skin of his teeth, turn to turn. He was regularly playing at 3 or 2 life. He also had Fire Breathing, which eventually killed me.

I was playing as Brokenbar and I was also going for victory. I pulled a bit of energy early, and used the heck out of Psychic Probe.

Cutting to the chase, the card Monster Sidekick came up, and my son was at 1 life in Tokyo. It was down to him and her, so he bought it.

On her turn she couldn't avoid doing 1 damage, so she killed him while he was in Tokyo, making him her sidekick. Then, as the card says, it was just the 2 of them left, so they both won the game.

I thought that was a funny ending to a 4P game. Needless to say, my son was quite proud of himself for salvaging victory from the ashes like that.
