Whatever adjectives you might want to apply to my position at that point (weak, losing, etc), I was absolutely in a position to win the game. I was literally a single die roll from winning. Have I been at all unclear on the state of the game at that point?

Oh the joys of risk taking games.
Knowing when to raise, when to fold and when to run the hell away.
And then blame it all the cards. Or dice. Of course! :D

You were close, yet so far away.

(One is close in KoT when they are un-killable and have reasonable chance to finish the game next turn. Obviously you weren't. Talking from my experiences this weekend - I had both more reserve (life) and enough advantage that I could play it safe. My GF could win one turn before I could if she got the lucky roll - 6 different symbols (she had the card that would get her 9 points and would get enough energy to buy another 2 points). But she didn't get so lucky while I just had to roll average).

But look at it this way: that minute with you on verge of winning or being killed, the adrenalin, the drama, the ultimate horror. This for me is a memorable game - kept you talking on this thread for days. I can't imagine getting something as powerful from Thebes or Blokus or whatever you rate highly. And this is why people play KoT.
