Which is why, if you were that close to winning, the player in Tokyo would not yield the city. At least, that's true if you are playing in a group that is a) playing to win, and b) understands the game.
The other players were not aware that I would win on my upcoming turn.

If you are one point away from death you are NOT winning. There are two ways to win and with more than just a few players at least some are going to lose due to their health. You keep saying you were in first place but you are looking at this wrong.
In general, looking at the board position before that last die roll, no one would have said I was in first place. But the fact remains that I was going to win on 5/6 possible rolls of that die, and lose on 1/6. It is those two possible outcomes that I am referring to when I say "bumped from first to last".

Guys, seriously. Why were you playing King of Tokyo?
We didn't know any better. It looked fun, and we had about an hour to kill.

The other players will just roll for hearts and let the player in Tokyo attack all and kill only you.
If you're right, which you might be, the situation would be no different, in terms of that player dealing the fatal damage to me, whether I was in Tokyo or he was. So how does that change anything?

You've mentioned you hate that you went from 1st to last (not sure how you are rated first in king of tokyo but we'll skip that for now.
Covered above.

you were far from a position to win the game.
Whatever adjectives you might want to apply to my position at that point (weak, losing, etc), I was absolutely in a position to win the game. I was literally a single die roll from winning. Have I been at all unclear on the state of the game at that point?
