Were your mates at this point yelling "CLAW! CLAW! CLAW!"? Or it was more like "hmm... this is not very interesting statistically speaking"? Because depending on the answer I might have a clue about why you didn't enjoy it.
Also, have you tried roaring every time you roll the die? Believe me, it greatly affects the die rolls. You must do it Godzilla-style though, otherwise it won't work.
