We play by stating what we are doing.
Rolling, Re-rolling, resolving/not re-rolling, wiping the cards, going to buy a card, buying this card, going to buy again, buying this card...
Never ever have we had a time where someone was playing aggressively fast and OhMyGoogI'mPlayingThishCardOnYouNow-ing. The opposite in fact. It creates a nice steady pace to the game play. If you missed your chance to play a card that would have changed an now resolved effect, to bad. You missed it and had notification of what was going on.

To quote you:
That is not KoT
Or, rather, that is to say, I personally find it very unlikely that the majority of KoT players, particularly those at the lower end of the stated "8+" age range for the game, play in that way.
It seems to me that KoT is a light, take-that, push-you-luck, filler game that is meant to played in a fun, loose, and relaxed manner.
Not as though it were some seriously deep tournament level euro.
