Dear Mr Sampson,

While I do enjoy a good rules debate I feel that your comments have crossed the line. I don't think it is ever appropriate to call someone a dumbass because of a difference in rules interpretation. These type of discussions can be enlightening in seeing how people think about the rules, but the point at which we should stop debating is probably before any ad hominem attacks occur.

I would suggest that we let this thread lie.

If the search for a "one true answer" is truly necessary, maybe someone from those tournaments or IELLO would be kind enough to mention what is appropriate tournament play, then we can rest easy and go back to playing in the way that makes our play groups happier, whether it be serious strategic foresight or surprising moments of drama.

Kind regards
I will admit I have been heated with my words, but let us be clear. An official answer was given by Iello with regards to this exact question (I linked to it here previously). At this point Scott continued to assert that his interpretation was correct and the official given answer was "inconsistent,""not necessary or desirable," and not valid because it "is not in the published rules." I then called Scott a dumbass for either not knowing what errata was or for (more likely) being a troll about it, not because of a rule disagreement.
