I agree with Moose - seems groupthink has created a game situation where other strategies are more difficult.I think I have only seen KoT end on points a few times - we almost always end with one monster left standing. I don't have enough brainpower right now to figure out the probabilities, but trying to consistently roll triplet 3's with no claws doesn't seem like a "strategy" to me.
I also think most of the 4+ cost KEEP cards are pretty good - we're always happy when we roll a pile of energy. I don't have stats on it, but apart from games that end quickly, it usually seems like the winning player has some good cards that allowed them to start dealing lots of damage. By that point, dealing 4+ damage a turn is not uncommon, and combine that with buying cards that damage everyone, a Point Collector will have a hard time surviving. But I guess this might depend on our own groupthink where everyone is trying to buy cards. If you're the only one buying cards, you're not going to get to see enough good ones. One option I've thought about is just to permanently remove from the deck those cards that no one ever seems to buy (most of the low cost ones).
