I am little confused by your analysis that you find the game expensive for what it is, but also justified within the next sentence. What I am reading from that though is that you believe the contents in the box don't justify the price, but the enjoyment that you have gained from play makes up for that short fall. Would that be accurate?

Spot on! I think I paid £28 for KoT and £12 for each of the expansions, so just over £50. For some bits of card and dice essentially. But the other aspect to consider is how much enjoyment I get out of it. I play it pretty regularly, and I always have a lot of fun. So for me that justifies the expense of the components (when I'm making a consideration on somethings value the cost of development doesn't actually come into it for me, I care about the value I am getting). As another example, I am looking into getting a Realm of Battle board at the moment and it's going to cost me between £120-£175 (depending whether I get second hand or new), which I think a lot for some big squares of plastic. However, I will get many years of use and enjoyment out of it so I'm prepared to spend more than I think it's worth because of that.

The thing that I feel invalidates a lot of the responses that I have received here is that they're critising a point that they are making (erroneously) on the subject for themselves (you're a pirate, you're disrespecting the IP of others etc), which the OP was quite clear in stating was not the intent. So after several reiterations of that fact, I'm just sending people back there now.

I think you should accept that by saying you think you might make your own home brew version of the game, you are going to be labelled as a pirate. If your post was just 'what do you guys think about the value of the game, I think it's a bit expensive' then you would have just got a conversation focused on that issue. But by saying that you could, and are thinking of, making your own copy, you have opened up a whole can of worms! As I've said, I'm somewhere in the middle concerning it, I've never copied/reproduced/bought board games, but I have certainly downloaded films or TV programmes which I shouldn't have. So I can see both sides of the argument,
