Players: Dad, Anya(9) and Cerys(6)
How did you like the theme?
Anya - "The theme was so fun - stomping all over Tokyo!"
Dad - They both enjoyed their monsters and dealing out damage.
Did you like the bits and pieces?
Anya - "I love the figures, the big dice and the green cubes."
Dad - The monsters were particularly well received. The oversized dice were a little too big for Cerys' hands but she managed okay.
How simple were the rules?
Anya - "The rules are very simple and I understood all of it. I found it quite hard to stay alive."
Dad - Anya seemed to grasp the rules quite well. There isn't a huge amount of strategy to this game and she knew when to pull out of Tokyo and heal up.
What didn't you like about the game?
Anya - "I didn't like the shrink ray tokens from the card my sister had."
Dad - Although it only came in to play right at the end, the negative effects from the shrink ray were unenjoyable for Anya. I can imagine other cards having the same effect if they were to come out.
Would you like to play again?
Anya - "I loved this game and would love to play it again!"
Dad - Both girls seemed to enjoy the game greatly and I can well imagine they'll be asking for it next time I ask them what they want to play.
Did your sister enjoy the game and did she understand the rules?
Anya - "My sister enjoyed the game a lot and understood the rules enough to win."
Dad - Although she definitely enjoyed the game a lot and enjoyed killing off her sister on the final turn, Cerys didn't fully understand the strategy involved and required some advice from me on a number of turns. She did understand what all the dice did and when it was a good idea to keep them or reroll them.
Summary from Dad - King of Tokyo is definitely well loved all round.
I did find myself pulling some punches towards the end to give the girls a better chance of winning but I can imagine that the more they play, the less I'll need to help them.
