I am sure when Boofus wrote that cards are never in a player's hand, he really meant "aside from all the times cards are in a player's hand (when they are being taken out of the box, shuffled, and dealt out as three to choose from, and one of those three is picked up and placed in front of a player), cards are not in players' hands."
And when he said cards are never shuffled, what he really meant was that in this game you shuffle the cards . . . ;)
Let me rephrase then to make it crystal clear: The cards are never in a player's hand and never shuffled, when actually playing the game apart from when a player buys a card, another card is revealed to replace a bought card, a player is forced to discard a bought card, a player asks to see, or passes to another player, a card to look at the on-card text, or any other time when a player may actually handle a card during play. In all other instances (every day life etc.) the cards are eligible to be held or shuffled.
Fixed that for you.
