Thread: King of Tokyo:: Rules:: Evolution card timing question

My group had a situation come up today and I was wondering what your take on it would be.

I started my turn with 17 points and there was a card out that would give me +4* that I just needed two more energy to purchase and win the game. I rolled the dice once and got the two energy I needed, so I chose to end my turn there and buy the card to win the game.

Immediately after I purchased the card, another player played an evolution card that caused all monsters to lose 2*.

Is that a valid play? My thoughts are that as soon as I purchased the card to put me over 20 stars that my turn was ended and the game was won. He claims that the turn wasn't ended until any possible card could be played and that I would then have 19* and the game continues.

As far as I can tell, the rules are pretty vague about what triggers the end of the game, only saying that you must survive the turn.

Thoughts?
