I read the card the same way that your friend did. I read it that if the die that you choose to "reroll" was a heart that you discarded the card. So if for instance the person was sitting at one health and rolled a single heart to get them up to two you could choose to reroll their heart thus leaving them more vulnerable to getting killed off.My friend read it like you in that if the die you rerolled was a heart you lost the card. It kind of seems pointless that you can get a card that you could possibly lose the first time you use it and that you have no control over it. I would agrue there is more strategy to the card if you lose it if you opt to reroll a heart. The other way it is total luck of the draw and not a strategic move at all.
The confusion for me is in the way it is worded. It says in bold that you pick a die to reroll, so to me this is now refering to the die as the "reroll" die. So when I read the next sentence I read it as it the "reroll" (meaning the die you picked) is a heart you lose the card. You can argue this both ways, as it isn't super clear. I don't have the card in front of me but I think it refered in the second line to "reroll" and not "rerolled". SO it isn't clearly saying that if the die you choose to reroll was rerolled as a heart you lose the card.
