Playing with a per-conceived strategy is a sure way to lose.

You just gave up a roll of 3+ energy or 3+ claws to roll for more points? You just made a big mistake. (99% of the time)

You just gave up sure points to roll for claws, energy or hearts? Well, this one has plenty of reasons why it MIGHT be a good idea (but definitely not always.)

Most people who play the game say that everyone plays to kill monsters and never play for points. Now you have a guy playing for points and its a "dirty trick"?

Using the other of two win conditions doesn't qualify as a "dirty trick". And how do you stop him? You damage him so he has to roll for hearts, the same way you stop someone from sitting in Tokyo.
