Monsters don't Play for Points!!! :p

You seem to be pretty set on that, but who said anything about "playing" or "points"? My monster tracker cards show stars, which to me signifies achievement or fame.

The so-called "Point Cards" are actually referred to as (predominantly) "Discard Cards". Nobody is dancing around saying "tee-hee" on those cards. Massive Monsters are ripping holes in coffee shops, scaring people out of the city, swatting jet fighters out of the sky, sucking power plants dry...at least that's what's being depicted on my deck of cards. This isn't 4 guys in Big Bird costumes sitting around a Bridge table.

I'll admit, it's all done in a very cartoon-ey way, but players of this game can still easily immerse themselves in the (tongue-in-cheek) theme of destruction for glory. Or, like you, they can choose to ignore it, and fixate that it's just an abstraction where we are playing cards for points. (Too bad Iello paid an artist for all those individual cards then, huh?)
