Time to Power Up

Had a lovely evening at the pub with my Mum, Dad, Rach, Russ, the kids, one of my brothers and my Mum's friend Lynne.

Afterwards we came back to our house for a couple of games. Initially it was just me, Russ and Rach and we figured it'd be a while before we had company so we setup Agricola but hadn't finished the first turn when my Mum and Lynne arrived so we quickly packed up.

Opting for something a little lighter due to the inebriated state of our new arrivals, we opened up King of Tokyo. The Power Up expansion had arrived earlier this week so this was our first chance to take it out for a test drive.
All in all I'd say I like it - Rach loves the Panda and I think the new Power Up cards add something extra to the game but not so much as to fundamentally change the way you play it.
First game was definitely going Rach's way. She hit 19 points but had her victory stolen by me when I rolled 1,2,3,Claw,Heart,Energy to fulfill the requirements on a card I'd purchased earlier to gain 9 victory points in one go - taking me to the golden 20 needed to win.
Second time round was a slower paced game with plenty of damage being done, reducing the number of victory points earned. Russ generally plays a strategy of purely seeking victory points (rerolling any claws) and it paid off this time as he sneaked to victory with us barely being aware that he was getting close.

With Rach retiring for the evening we chose to play 6 Nimmt!. Another simple but fun game, great for when people have had a few.
We played five rounds and Lynne quickly amassed a large number of points. Russ and my Mum were leading throughout with myself somewhere in the middle. The tables turned in the last two rounds and Lynne took barely any points at all whilst the rest of us kept piling them up.
In the end, I was trailing in distant last place, Russ came third with my Mum in second and Lynne beating her by 1 point!
