Thread: King of Tokyo:: General:: Tournament Rules - Suggestions

Iello has posted Tournament Rules on their webpage. The rules are still in beta, and they welcome feedback, so I thought I should offer my thoughts.

My group have been running tournaments in KoT, and this is (a modification of) what we have come up with to deal with situations like double elimination, and ranking of players still alive when someone win by VP. I've just focused on the distribution of points below.

Points

Each player receive Tournament Points (TP) according to the winning order of the game:

1st: 10 TP
2nd: 6 TP
3rd: 4 TP
4th: 2 TP
------------
5th: 1 TP
6th: 0 TP

The first player to be eliminated gets the lowest available TP. In a 4-player game the first player eliminated gets 2 TP, the next 4 TP, and so on.

If two or more players are eliminated at the same time, they share the points they would have gotten. If the first two players are eliminated at the same time they get (4 + 2 / 2) 3 TP.

If someone win by VP, the players still alive share the points for the position they would have gotten. Example: One player has been eliminated, the two players still alive get 5 TP each.

If the time runs out during the qualifying rounds, the order is decided by VP. If two or more have the same number of VP they share the points.

There will normally not be any fractions with shared positions unless playing with more than 4 players. If you get fractions, round up.

Final

The six best ranked players by TP goes to the final. In case of ties you see who has the most 10s, if it is still tied, the most 8s (possible if someone has shared a victory), then 7s (in the unlikely situation where 3 players shared a victory), 6s and so on.

What do you think? Anyone have any other suggestions to improve the Tournament Rules?
