It works as a two player game. But nobody I have ever played it with that way found it compelling, including myself.It kinda really needs that 3rd player IMO. Someone made a 2 player variant though that looked interesting. Might be worth searching the forums here for that again. I just posted in it last night so if you click the "recent" tab then it should be near the top.
