This idea is really worse. If this is such a good idea, then next time this company has a new game, why don't they hold a lottery and only people who wins can have the "honor" of purchasing it? Then they know how many copies to print and just like with these promo cards, only a portion of those who want the product will have a chance to get it. Ridiculous plan.

They're promotional items. Why is this possibly a bad idea? They're obviously not planning on making a massive printing run on them, since by their nature, they're limited and promotional. They're also saying, here's a chance to win some other stuff for free. I don't see the problem. Sure, I'd love to buy the King of Tokyo expansion. It's not available right now. But I understand that a small company has to make sure that they can sell what they produce. This game has turned out to be a success. I imagine that their production runs will be larger in the future.

You know what they are promoting now? Ill will toward the company. Is that the goal? I was at both Origins and GenCon last year, visited their booth at GenCon and bought two games. There was no sign up about King of Tokyo promos and none was mentioned when I took a demo. It is one thing to have to go to a con or send in something to be able to purchase promos because then I know if I do "A" I will get the promos. It is a FAR worse idea that if I do "A" I have no idea in hell if I will get the promos.

I suppose I just don't feel a sense of entitlement to promotional items.

Why not? You're not entitled to have the same reasonable chance as everyone else. I feel bad you have such a low opinion of your value as a gaming customer.

You're obviously very upset, and that's manifesting itself in making assumptions about how I value myself as a consumer. Suffice to say, they're incorrect, as you might expect coming from someone who doesn't know me at all. I feel like promotional items are simply that. A way to promote their games. Extras. Goodies. If you get one, awesome! If you don't, that's the breaks. I don't feel that simply because I bought their game, I'm entitled to every promotional item that goes with it.

Then what is the promotional item promoting? I bought the game directly from the company at a con during a time when promotional cards still existed. Why wasn't that enough to earn a right to purchase the promo items? Yes, I think I'm entitled to that and I stick by my opinion that you lower your own opinion of your value as a gamer if you don't think that's a reasonable expectation.

If you've already bought the game then you don't need the promotional items, because by you having them they're not promoting anything, because you've already bought it!

Promotional items are aimed at people who have not already bought the game!

That's why they're called promotional items.
