Only in BGG Fantasyland is KoT a children's game. Family game yes, good with teens yes, but it's not for young children. Maybe it's good for the children of serious gamers, but it's ridiculous to suggest that the ideal age range for this game is 6-10. I have a 7 year old in the house and there's no way I'm playing this game with him. There's no way I'm playing it with ANY of the kids I know under age 10. We play Kids of Carcassonne, Sliders or Chicken Cha Cha Cha. Ya know, games for children.
Love KoT, but it should never have won the award for best children's game. The award was a joke and quite honestly made me lose respect for BGG.

Pretty strong response. Can you explain your issues a bit more?
I can't imagine a ten year old being interested in playing Kids of Carcassone. I play it with my 4 1/2 year old, who understands the rules but not the strategy (what little the game offers). The stuff you mention is really designed for preschoolers....
This game seems pretty simple and outside of reading card text and strategy (which can be a problem with any game), I really don't see the problem...
