This sounds great with 3+ players!With two players, my wife and I found that there was absolutely zero incentive for the 1st player to remove their monster from Tokyo, and in fact, there is a huge bonus to staying there - the bonus VP each turn.
You still damage the other player, they still damage you, only difference is the person in Tokyo gets 2VP per turn? Hmm, unless we're missing something (that is possible), this is not balanced at all for 2 players and needs an adjustment.
The adjustment we came up with (initially) for 2 players is that once a player goes into tokyo, the player outside gets to roll 1 extra die, and furthermore, the player IN Tokyo gets just 1 VP per turn, which *could* scale according to the variant above, if it were changed that the amount of VP per turn were simply the number of players *outside* Tokyo. E.g., in a 5 player game, if two players were in Tokyo (one in the Bay), then the amount of VP each would get would be 3 - due to their being competition in and outside of Tokyo. Thoughts? (Realize this is much later than the OP post, but we only recently got the game)
