I like dice and party games and was sure I'd like King of Tokyo, but I didn't--at least my first two plays of it, both with five players.

All the sitting around watching people roll dice, stare at the dice, re-roll, stare again, and finally roll once more just wasn't doing it for me. Making it through a round of five players took a while and there didn't seem to be much to think or to talk about when it wasn't my turn.

It's a light game so I didn't expect there to be much thinking, but if there's not much thinking I'd rather there not be a lot of waiting.

I also thought the dials were a poor choice for tracking points and life. You can't easily see where everyone stands in the game so you have to keep asking and/or standing and leaning to read their dials. Awkward. You could opt to use another method for tracking, of course. For the 2nd game we stuck our dial boards in the stands and just used those as our montsters.

We played Get Bit after. That was more enjoyable.

Negative though I was on it, I'd still like to give KoT another shot, but with 4 players.
