Richard,
Does Armor Plating prevent Poison damage or any other damage not from a direct claw roll?
I assume so but I wanted to double check with you.

Richard:
Yes - but damage done at the same time is added together (for example, claw claw is not 1+1 it is 2). This may at times lead to something you don't expect - like firebreathing - which does 1 damage to your neighbors is prevented if you don't do additional damage to them. Poison is generally stopped because when you receive poison damage you are generally receiving just 1 - as it is your turn. But if you had 2 poison your armor wouldn't stop 1.
Well, his example is contradictory. He says fire breathing is prevented if you don't do additional damage but in order to use fire breathing you need to deal damage.
Also, "done at the same time" is vague in and of itself. Say I do the claw attack for one and have acid attack that deals one extra damage even if I don't attack. Are these considered to be at the same time? What if I bought the card this turn? Is it considered two separate times then?
Don't make it more complex that it should.
Total damage = 1 => damaged nullified.
Any other damage number => damage applied.
Something doing "additional damage" is damage not equal to 1 therefore damage applied.
Weird unpredictable case coming up? Use your best judgement. It's just a game after all.
